Update for October 29
Dear Parents,
This week on Monday we will be having our 5.1 math quiz on adding & subtracting decimals,
rounding decimals, and showing expanded form. Our 6.1 math quiz will be over ratios,
equivalent ratios, and finding unit rate. On Thursday we will have our Great Depression/Dust Bowl/
New Deal quiz. Our FALL CENTERS will be on Wednesday from 10:15 to 11:05 behind the gym.
Our wonderful room parents have some fun activities planned! In Writing our students will be
working on their flash drafts, then continuing their Informational papers.
We are running a little low on Kleenex if you have the chance to send some in, we'd appreciate
it. :) Thanks in advance for all of your support!

Update for 10/15
Dear
Parents,
In Social Studies, we are finishing up
the Roaring 20’s and Harlem Renaissance and will be exploring the causes and
consequences of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. As part of this unit, we will also be
studying Herbert Hoover’s economic policies and Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s ABC
Soup policies to put Americans back to work.
In Science, we will be beginning our Genetics and Microorganisms units.
In Reading, we will start our new ROAR
groups on October 22nd based on students’ current lexile levels and
will be focused on reading informational texts.
The students are continuing to plan and research for their informational
writing pieces and doing a fantastic job. 😊 It’s so fun to see them inspired and
enthusiastic about Writing!
We will have our first Unit 2 math quizzes in 5.1 on multiplying and dividing by the Powers of
Ten and in 6.1 on Ratios on Monday,
